Root Canal Lancaster

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is required when infection or decay is compromising the nerve of a tooth. To save the tooth, the nerve and pulp are extracted and the interior is thoroughly cleaned and sealed.

This is a treatment that your doctor may recommend before you are even experiencing symptoms associated with infected or decayed tooth nerves. In other cases, you could be experiencing toothaches, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures, and sensitivity in the surrounding gums.

When pain or increased sensitivity is affecting your tooth, these could be signs of an infection. These infections can occur if a cavity has grown too deep or the tooth is damaged. Bacteria can infect the soft tissue and be located in areas where antibiotics cannot reach. Root canal treatments involve diagnosing and treating the soft tissue or pulp inside of a tooth.

Lancaster Dentist

Our Lancaster root canal team can work together with you to restore your natural, healthy teeth. We will examine your teeth, jaw, and gums to determine the severity of the problem and recommend the best solution. You will be briefed on the procedures involved in the treatment and we will answer any questions you may have. Root canal therapy involves removing the infected pulp from your tooth chamber, this is performed under a local anesthetic. You will then receive a permanent crown to complete the treatment and cosmetically restore the tooth.

Without treatment, the surrounding tissue of the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. Many patients consider pulling the tooth altogether, however this may be a more costly and painful alternative down the line and may negatively effect neighboring teeth.
